6-21-16 Flight
•Flight•
Have you ever been wrapped up in the sky?
Almost like drowning in air
Birds swim through the ocean
Clouds dance on top of the water
The ground becomes a bed of white
No longer looking up
But being able to reach out and feel the air
Stretching out on the wing of a plane
Scooped up in the basket of a balloon
Through the hole in a rocket ship
In the chasms of your mind
Through the ink of a pen
In the spine of a book
In the wood of an instrument
The flick of a paint brush
Through our bleeding feet
In the highlights of your hair
The ocean sketched in your eyes
The texture of your hands
The cracks of your lips
The color in your pink cheeks
We are all afraid to fly too high
The pressure on our eyes
But the lightness of our legs
The beating of our hearts when we leave the ground
Realizing we could finally taste the sky
