6-18-17 Glances
That heaviness in your chest is something you shouldn't ignore
That light feeling in your fingers is something to hold onto
The soreness in your feet is something you should push through
The sleepiness in your eyes is something you should recognize
The stabbing in your stomach is something that won't go away
The way we describe our loved ones
The tingling feeling we get when we hear our favorite song
How frustrated we get when our painting isn't perfect like our favorite artist
We always tell ourselves "I wish I didn't feel like this" or "I shouldn't feel like this"
When others tell us we over exaggerate the feeling in our chest
Or overthink the situations in our minds
We should not simply glance over our emotions
It's the one thing that makes us human
Sympathy, love, hate, envy, lust
There's always a dark side to each twisted passion
This instinctive state of mind sometimes overrides our reasoning
It steers us away from what is right and wrong
We decide to follow our sentiments instead of truth
We're still learning and developing
There are parts of us we still do not possess
It's not our job to decide when we get them
We steal them away and use them falsely
Like an eager child on a snowy Christmas morning
We rip everything open and hope to find something that we think is meant to belong in our hands
Our dirty unsympathetic hands
There's a reason we take, A reason we desire, A reason we fool ourselves
That tightness in your chest, The fullness of your stomach, The reason your hands shake
We are human, but that is no excuse
Your emotions will fool you into thinking "my heart will take me there"
But don't you see?
Your heart is the most deceiving, but never glance it over
God knows what you desire and will give you what you need not what you want
Tell Him how you feel
He is your new heart
