11-25-16 Is This Thing On?
•Is this thing on?•
Has it hit you yet?
And if it has, where has it gotten you?
In your stomach?
In you heart?
In your head?
Because I don't know if these words are hitting the right notes
Have I been throwing up gibberish this whole time?
Please tell me
Have these sentences pulled at every string in your body?
I want to grab ahold of you for one minute, just to show you that life is beautiful and scary
To explain myself in a few words
But everything I've been telling you isn't just for you and me
There's a greater symphony being conducted
Have I gotten your attention?
Because I can't hold my tongue any longer
I'm going to tell you stories of Pirates and sea monsters
How the prince saved the princess and lived happily ever after
An adventure through space discovering the galaxies
Your job is to figure out what it all means
Because this life is wonderful beyond all measure
We choose to reach in the gutter and pull out mud and dead leaves
But remember those leaves used to grow on stretching trees and that mud grew fields of sunflowers
There is so much we don't know
That is beautiful
Worlds beyond our galaxy
Treasures dug deep into the earth
Ruins with stories they couldn't tell
So tell me
Has it hit you yet?
The words I've been stumbling over in my mouth
The sentences and paragraphs I've written late into the night
I'm writing you letters and sending you postcards but I get nothing in return
Show me you still have all the same organs I do
That your heart still beats and your eyes still shed tears
Because everyone is broken
And no one is perfect
This should unify us
To become better than we were yesterday
Show me all this writing isn't for not
Tell me the world inside your head
Does it ever stop revolving?
Let your solar systems collide with mine
Show me the deserts on your earth
The rings on your Saturn
The craters on your moon
So tell me
Have my solar systems hit you yet?
I know it's scary not knowing
Give me a chance
I know I'm not a master
But I do have a brain and a heart
My words sometimes don't make sense but trust me
Words are the most beautiful thing on this planet
